Woodside Eggs

New identity designed for local egg producing company, Woodside Eggs.

The egg is one of the most recognisable & versatile foods around, so we tried to accompany the type (which was customised out of Futura), with a mark that would reference not only the simple nature of the egg, but also nod towards the company itself being local & independent. The decision to treat the mark in a hand drawn style helps show the brand as friendly & accessible (which it is of course!).

Further elements to the brand will feature on the blog shortly.

Goddess Next Door

Another new client & brand at hartydesign, Goddess Next Door is a new, Northern Irish makeup school. The focus of the classes is to teach ordinary women, professional skills, tips & tricks to further enhance their looks in various aspects of their lives.

Essentially aimed at ‘everywoman,’ our marque utilises the elegant door knocker as a symbol for the brand, which works well with the name of the brand and reinforces the thought of enhancing the Girl-next-door, to the ‘Goddess Next Door’.

Further promotional material to come with this brand, including website, car graphics and more. All will feature on the blog.

Mourne Heritage Trust 2011 Annual Report

For the second year running, harty design have been given the task of producing the Mourne Heritage Trust Annual Report and we are happy to be able to show you the final results.

This year saw the direction of the report change dramatically. A new format was decided, vastly different type styles employed & hand-drawn illustrations incorporated into the spreads. We placed more emphasis on photography this year also, dedicating full spreads to stunning images, showcasing scenery across the Mourne area (that the Trust take care of so very well!).

Our concept refers back to documents of yesteryear, with a typographic style that utilises only but a few cuts. Two fonts were used in total, this includes faces used in the accounts section, which we treated in a way that it may be reminiscent of an old school textbook. Icons from astrology accompany the various chapters in the document, this being a reference to land owners using almanacs to help them manage their fields & crops. All illustrations featured are of species specific to the Mourne area (the Hare was our pick for the cover but it was the Heather that was deemed more appropriate). We have included an extra picture of all drawings included in the report.

Fonts used – Adobe Garamond Pro and Maiola Pro
Printed on 115gsm Cyclus Offset
Cover on 300gsm silk
